Visitors welcomed by classroom ambassadors
Posted: 17th February 2020Visitors are being greeted by polite, knowledgeable and attentive ambassadors.
Freshwaters Primary Academy has appointed classroom ambassadors to welcome guests into their classrooms and make them feel welcome and informed.
Headteacher Jackie Diggle said: “We visited an Outstanding primary school in London where we were welcomed by classroom ambassadors. They represented the class and knew exactly what learning was taking place. They walked us around their classroom, showed us their books, told us what they were reading and working on. They were really great representatives and we fell in love with the idea.”
The new ambassadors at Freshwaters will be responsible for meeting and greeting visitors to their classroom and sharing what they are learning.
Mrs Diggle said: “Our children are already very aware of when we have visitors in school. They are friendly and open and are proud of their school.
“This is about building on that, improving their communication skills and giving them the confidence to speak out loud.
“It’s another opportunity to include pupils in roles around school.”
The school also has playground ambassadors who are responsible for organising games, helping younger children to line up, making sure pupils are playing fair and helping in the dining hall.
Anti-bullying and reading ambassadors will also soon be appointed.
