Performance poet inspires school community
Posted: 8th March 2022A performance poet has inspired the whole school community to get creative.
Author Neil Zetter visited Freshwaters Primary Academy to perform pieces from his books, including Ssssnap! Mister Shark.
Pupils joined in with his performances, having learnt his work off by heart ahead of the visit, and asked questions about how Neil writes his poems.
Year 1 and 2 pupils completed a workshop with the visitor where he helped them to create their own rainbow poetry, before Reception and Nursery pupils watched a performance.
Headteacher Jackie Diggle said: “It was great fun; there was a lot of laughter coming from the hall.
“Neil was very impressed with the children’s vocabulary and their use of adjectives.
“The children are now all busy writing poetry and have realised how important it is to learn new words and to use them in their writing.”
