Book bus inspires reading
Posted: 8th May 2019A bus full of books parked up in the playground inspired children to get reading.
The Book Bus visited Freshwaters Primary Academy giving pupils and parents an opportunity to browse and buy books.
Throughout the day, every pupil at the school visited with their classmates, excited to discover what was on board the bus.
Rebecca Freire-Norman, assistant head, said: “Pupils were able to explore the bus as a way of developing their love of reading. It’s a really good way for children to have a look at books displayed on shelves and to share their favourites.
“Children had brought in money which meant the book bus also supported their maths skills as they had to work out how much they had and what they could afford to buy.
“They loved it; even our youngest pupils who are just three years old. The books being displayed on a bus made it that bit more exciting.”
