Ms Gema Ballesteros
My name is Gema and I am specialized in EYFS and Primary teaching systems, with Bachelors in Psychopedagogy, Major: Counselling and Guidance. My teaching/learning journey started in 2000 when I was given a scholarship to participate in an International Exchange Program between the University of Ottawa, Canada, and the University Complutense of Madrid, Spain. I have been teaching twenty years in different levels from EYFS up to University.
I became a part of BMAT Educational group last September 2018 as a year 2 teacher. My current position is as Primary teacher (year 5) at Freshwaters Primary Academy. I am leading the Eco-school program and I am one of the members of the Wellbeing Team. I am passionate about enabling all children to reach their potential. I always have high expectations for every child and believe in the power of a school for promoting the life chances for children and families.
I believe that working overseas would allow me to not only to take my career experience further but also to obtain a greater use of my knowledge in the teaching field. I felt that UK will be a very exciting place to work that would allow me to experience very multicultural work environment. I feel privileged to have worked in multicultural settings as a teacher and I really appreciate working with the community at FWA.
As a passionate teacher, I believe that creating a shared vision for a long-term plan is key for the continued success of a school. This year I had the opportunity to lead the Eco-school program. I am trying to work, develop and learn the best way to make my little contribution to this huge educational approach. Education for Sustainability (EfS) is an educational approach that aims to develop students, schools and communities with the values and the scale, now and in the future.
When I am not teaching, I spend my time with my daughter and my son.
